Completed December, 2010

I had intended to keep this red spruce-topped violin for my own, so I didn't take a lot of photos. It was purchased by retired Pittsburgh Symphony violinist Richard DiAdamo. To hear Richard play a Skipper violin, visit our Audio Video page.

Construction Photos

The ribs are assembled over an internal form and the plates are carved and glued to the ribs. The neck is shaped using saws, chisels, and gouges.

When the instrument is complete, it's finished with oil varnish specially formulated for musical instruments.
