Completed

Gerry Snelson's designing touches are evident in this elaborate yet tasteful 00 Slope-shouldered guitar. The master-grade Carpathian spruce top is married to a lovely leopardwood back and side set. The slotted headstock has a custom abalone and mother-of[oearl inlay, and maple bindings provide just the right contrast to the abalone purfling. The rosette features yet another ebony and mother of pearl inlay, and a tortoise celluloid pickguard tops off the package. And it sounds just as good as it looks.

Construction Photos

The plates are joined with hot hide glue and the sides are bent. The rosette inlay is cut and fitted into the ebony background. The head and tail blocks are fabricated.

The kerfed lining and side reinforcing strips are attached. The rosette is completed. The bracing is glued in and tap tuned, and the plates are glued to the sides.

The end graft and bindings are fitted. The neck hardware is installed and the neck is fitted to the body. The carbon fiber reinforcing bars are attached to the fretboard, and corresponding channels are cut in the neck to receive them.

The peghead overlay is glued on, the slotted headstock is shaped, and the inlay is cut and installed.

The neck is completed and stained, and the instrument is finished with nitrocellulose lacquer. The instrument is set up with strings and hardware.
